Last days of Summer

Well , here we are…1 day before school starts.  Wow….where did the summer go?  It feels like Chloe just got out of school yesterday.  In fact, it feels like it just warmed up yesterday :)  Chloe is going into 5th grade.  I remember 5th grade.  I wore my one pair of Levi’’s every day to school if I could get away with it and I had a yellow skateboard.  Ok, so I couldn’t ride it worth a damn…but all the cool kids had one :)  I remember the summer of “75″ before my 5th grade year.  I remember the summer lasting forever.  I remember leaving the house at 11, riding my ten speed to the swimming pool, and not coming home till the street lights were on.  If I wasn’t home by then, daddy would come looking for me and I sure didn’t want that.  I remember watching Sonny & Cher and thinking Chastity was just about the luckiest girl on the planet.  Her mom was young, gorgeous, and a star.  My mom wore a suit to the bank and was older than all the other moms.  It’s strange the kind of things we remember…but I sure do miss all those summer days when I was 9, 10, and 11.

    Kimberly,
This is more a comment on your show the other day when you were talking about Jason bringing the girl around Chloe.
I just wanted to tell you that I’m a stepmom of 2, and i’ve had them since they were little. I have had to be the kids mom since day one, as their mom is not involved at a very high level. She’s the “fun mom”
I just want to assure you as a mom who’s had to step in- I would have much preferred an active and involved mom like you. I often invite her to their events, and she never shows. I watch the kids faces when she promises to come and doesnt, and it’s heartbreaking. It would have been much better for them if she was involved 100%. i would never take that role if she hadn’t walked away.
I think that you are so safe, and do not have to worry, because you are a great mom. Chances are she wants to be Jason’s girlfriend and a friend to your daughter…it will be a relief to her that she doesn’t have to take on the huge responsibility of mothering someone else’s child.
That said I fully understand how you feel. Just remember that she wasn’t the cause of your break up and she, like you, is just looking for happiness.
and all that said-if she acts like Chloe’s mommy-bitch slap her :)

Oh my God! I had a yellow skateboard too! I loved watching Sonny & Cher with my Mom and my favorite part was Chasity. If she didn’t come out at the end of the show I was soo disappointed. And don’t forget the Disney Show on Sunday nights, had to have my weekly bath before school started on Monday! I had a pair of baby blue bell bottoms that I could wear everyday too! We walked so far to school in the cold winter days and didn’t come home until the lights were on, nobody asked where we were. It’s amazing we all made it. No wonder we’re both Scorpions!
